A cassette containing the 5' half of the HPRT mini-gene, a loxP site and a neomycin resistance gene was inserted 5' of Snord116 (Snord116tm1Jbro) and a cassette containing a puromycin resistance gene gene, a loxP site, and the 3' half of the HPRT mini-gene was inserted 3' of Ipw (Ipwtm1Jbro). Transient cre expression in ES cells deleted both genes/gene clusters. This region is termed the Prader-Willi Syndrome critical region (PWScr). (J:152022)
