Constructs containing cDNAs for the alpha and beta chains encoding the A18 T cell receptor were cloned and placed under the control of the human CD2 promoter and LCR region. The A18 T cell clone that donated the receptor used to generate transgenic mice is a high affinity clone that recognizes very small amounts of C5 protein presented in the context of I-Ek MHC. Line A18.2 contains about 40 copies of the alpha transgene and 30 copies of the beta transgene. In addition to line 18.2, four additional transgenic lines were made. (J:111649)
