ENU induces an A to T transversion in the seed region resulting in transcript destabilization and translational inhibition. An additional mutation (C to T) was identified in exon 5 of Akr1b10. However, it does not alter the codon and is not thought to cause the phenotype associated with this mutant. (J:151354)
