The molecular lesion is a gene trao insertional mutation in intron 1 of the gene, upstream of the start codon in exon 2. End-point PCR analysis confirmed generation of the predicted Lyar-betageo fusion transcript in the spleen of homozygous mice. However, trace amounts of normally spliced transcript (exon 1exon 2) were also detected. Western blot analyses showed that low levels of encoded protein are detectable in spleen, thymus, pancreas, and teste of homozygous mice suggesting that this is a hypomorphic allele. (J:263530)
