Insertion of this gene trap between exons 2 and 3 results in splicing from exon 2 to the beta-galactosidase/neomycin genes in the cassette. Northern blot of testis RNA and western blot of testis protein from homozygous mice demonstrated that no detectable normal transctipts nor protein product are expressed from this allele.
