A gene-trap cassette coding for a fusion protein of beta-galactosidase and neomycin resistance enzyme was inserted in place of the first exon of the gene under the control of the endogenous promoter. Quantitative PCR analysis confirmed the complete absence of mRNA expression in homozygous mutant mice. (J:219161)
