A gene trap vector containing a beta-geo reporter gene inserted between exons 1 and 2, resulting in a loss-of-function mutation. RT-PCR confirmed the absence of mRNA expression in E10 homozygous mutant embryos. No encoded protein was detected in isolated mitochondria from E11.5 mutant embryos by immunoblot analysis. (J:261656)
