Trapped gene association determined by genome coordinate overlap and strand. The retroviral gene trap vector inserted into intron 2. This insertion results in a null mutation by placing a strong splice acceptor site in intron 2, leading to formation of a truncated mRNA fused to a beta-geo reporter gene. RT-PCR confirmed absence of mRNA in the skin, intestine, kidneys and lungs and Western blot analysis confirmed absence of protein. (J:214122)
