The reversible gene trap cassette inserted into the third intron. The insertion results in the production of a truncated protein containing only the 11 terminal amino acids of the gene fused to the beta-geo reporter and lacking all functional domains of the endogenous gene. The gene trap cassette is flanked with loxP and FRT sites allowing for recombinase mediated inversion of the cassette. (J:168015)
