An EYFP gene and floxed neo cassette were inserted into exon 1 via homologous recombination. Cre mediated recombination then removed the neo cassette. EYFP expression faithfully reflects endogenous gene expression in heterozygous mice. Western blot analysis confirmed the absence of protein expression in whole brain lysates from homozygous mice.
