Coding sequence for the mouse Hdac2 protein was placed in-frame with exon 1 of the gene locus creating a fusion protein containing the first 31 amino-acids of the endogenous locus. A 2-3 fol expression of Hdac2 was confirmed in the CA1 region of the hippocampus by immunohistofluorescence. Hdac2 activity was confirmed by decreased levels of acetylation present in the same region as expression. (J:148391)
