A Cre-expression cassette, followed by a polyadenylation sequence to terminate transcription of the fusion transcript immediately after the recombinase gene, was inserted into a BAC vector at the initiating ATG codon in the first coding exon of the gene. The Cre expression pattern matches adult Chat gene expression (all cholinergic neurons) and is limited to motor neurons, with minimal expression in forebrain structures. (J:145110)
