A neomycin resistance cassette with an in-frame stop codon was inserted into the zinc-catalytic center encoded by exon 7. In the process, 140 bp were deleted at the targeting site. End-point PCR of kidney mRNA demonstrated the absence of transcription. Absence of protein product was indicated by immunoblot analysis of urine. (J:145147)
