The transgene comprises the upstream promoter/enhancer region from the mouse interleukin 2 gene extending from -8.4 kb through nucleotide +45 followed by a cDNA encoding enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) and the 3' splice and polyadenylation signals from a human beta-globin gene. EGFP expression is inducible, efficient and specific to the tissue/cell types and developmental stages where IL2 normally is expressed, i.e., in peripheral T cells and in immature thymocytes and thymocytes undergoing positive selection. It was estimated by Southern blot analysis that three copies of the transgene construct had integrated into the genome of this line. (J:89126, J:143704)
