The coding region of the Hesx1 gene was replaced with sequence encoding Cre recombinase, a polyA sequence and an Frt-flanked PGK-Neo cassette, via homologous recombination. The targeting vector was electroporated into CCE ES cells. ES cells were injected into B6 blastocysts to generate mice. Subsequently, the Pgk-Neo cassette was excised by crossing mice to ACTB:FLPe transgenic animals and maintained on a C57BL/6J background. (J:135132)
