ENU induced a T to C substitution at position 757 in the mRNA altering the canonical polyadenylation signal. Northern blot analysis on RNA from fetal liver cells from homozygous and heterozygous mice detected reduced expression of the wild-type transcript and the presence of larger RNA species not seen in wild-type samples.
