The gene trap is inserted in the first intron at the 3' end. The last 754 nucleotides of the intron and the first nucleotide of exon 2 are deleted. The splice acceptor for exon 2 is lost. In addition to a transcript containing gene trap vector sequences, a transcript resulting from splicing exon 1 to exon 3 is expressed. (J:141678)
