A gene-trap vector containing a splice acceptor followed by a beta-geo cassette disrupted the gene locus by inserting within the intronic region after exon 10. Protein expression of both the alpha and beta isoforms of the gene product were 23-37% of wild-type as determined by immunoblots of ileal lystates from homozygotes. This is a hypomorphic allele.
