A loxP site was placed into a non-conserved, non-coding portion of exon 3 and a loxP- Frt- flanked neo-cassette was placed 212 bp upstream from the transcription initiation site. Mice were crossed with cre-transgenic mice to delete the coding region and the neo cassette from the germline cells. Gene inactivation was confirmed by a lack of protein detected in immunoblot assays of B cell extracts from homozygotes. (J:141145)
