Exon 1, which contains the transcription start site and the translation initiation sites for both transcripts, and part of intron 1 have been replaced by a neomycin resistance cassette. RT-PCR analysis of total mRNA from whole E9.5 mutant vs. wild type embryos confirmed the absence of transcripts in homozygous mutants. (J:140470)
