A beta-geo gene trap vector was inserted upstream of the promoter region for the alpha-1 N-terminally truncated isoform in the middle of the locus. Western blot analysis confirmed the absence of protein in the spinal cord and a reduction of protein production in brain extracts of homozygotes. (J:128698)
