Exon 2, which contains the transcriptional start site, was replaced by an eGFP reporter and neomycin resistance cassette. Gene inactivation was confirmed by an absence of protein in bone marrow derived macrophages as determined by immunoblotting and immunohistochemistry. Minimal GFP expression was detected in the macrophages. (J:133404)
