A bovine tau-targeted LacZ cassette and a floxed neo cassette were inserted into the first exon deleting 39 base pairs including the start methionine codon and codons for 6 amino acids of the signal peptide. Germ-line, cre-mediated recombination was used to remove the neo cassette. Expression of lacZ was confirmed by beta-galactosidase assay. This is a null allele due to the insertion site. (J:132854)
