Tg(Mc4r-MAPT/Sapphire)21Rck

A bovine gene encoding Tau protein was fused to a gene encoding a blue-shifted variant of GFP known as Sapphire. This gene was put under the control of 50kb of Mc4r promoter sequence and 95kb of downstream sequence. Two lines were characterized with line 21 having five insertion events and line 30 having one. Reporter gene expression and endogenous Mc4r gene expression co-localized in cells of the brain as determined by in situ hybridization.
