A YFP gene with an HA epitope tag at the 5' end was inserted in-frame into exon 5, which encodes the M3-M4 cytoplasmic loop of the encoded protein. This allele expresses a fusion protein under the control of the endogenous gene. In confocal brain images of coronal sections, high levels of immunofluorescence were detectable in the medial habenula, thalamus, substantia nigra pars compacta (SNC), and the interpendicular nucleus. Moderate expression levels were also detected in superior colliculus, cerebral cortex, retrosplenial granular cortex and subiculum. (J:123687)
