A recombinase-mediated cassette exchange (RMCE) vector consisting of a mutant LoxP site, a promoterless EGFP reporter gene, a neomycin selection cassette and a wt LoxP site was inserted into the ATG translational start site of exon 2. Endogenous gene expression was replaced with EGFP expression as assessed by fluorescent microscopy and immunohistochemistry of brain, heart, liver and other organs. This allele allows for RMCE into the b-actin locus. (J:129639)
