This transgene expresses the full-length cDNA encoding the murine urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA) from the enhancer-promoter region of the aA-crystallin (Cryaa) gene. Expression of the encoded protein is observed in the ocular lens, and unexpectedly, in retina and brain. (J:111127)
