The entire coding region was replaced with a lacZ cassette inserted at the start codon of the first coding exon. The 3' untranslated region was retained. A floxed neo cassette was inserted downstream of the coding region and was subsequently removed via cre mediated recombination. LacZ expression was detected in mutant mice. (J:119032)
