Exon 4, encoding the trans-membrane domain was disrupted by the insertion of a neomycin cassette. Quantitative PCR analysis indicated that transcript expression was significantly reduced in homozygous mice. Western blot analysis confirmed the absence of protein in brain lysates from homozygous mice. (J:128389)
