A loxP site was targeted into the Mpo gene. A second loxP site was targeted in trans into the Chad gene. Transient expression of Cre recombinase in ES cells resulted in recombination between loxP sites on opposite ends of the chromosome, duplicating the 6.9 Mb region from Mpo to Chad. (J:109163)
