A loxP site was introduced 70 bp upstream of the translation initiation site and a loxP-frt-Neo/KanR-frt cassette was inserted 408 bp downstream of exon 1. The selectable markers were removed by flp-mediated recombination using transient flp expression. Normal expression patterns in the brain were confirmed by in situ hybridization. (J:127396)
