A mouse albumin (Alb) promoter drives expression of the murine Ggcx transgene including the entire coding sequence. An internal ribosome entry site sequence (IRES) followed by an enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) coding sequence and a bacterial kanamycin resistant gene (KAN) were also built into the cassette. A chimeric intron with optimized splice signals from the pCI expression vector was also introduced upstream of the Ggcx cDNA in the transgene cassette to enhance gene expression. Expression of Ggcx is liver-specific. The EGFP is not expressed. (J:101977)
