Part of exon 16 through exon 18 was replaced with lacZ to create a fusion product. The predicted fusion protein contains the ECD1, first transmembrane domain and part of the first intracellular loop fused to beta-galactosidase. Beta-galactosidase expression was confirmed in the seminiferous tubules in the first layer of cells adjacent to the basement membrane. (J:126330)
