A 308 bp section spanning exon 3 (containing the first half of the cysteine-rich domain) is replaced with an IRES-lacZ-PGKneo cassette. RNA expression analysis fails to detect any transcript in the brains of P1 homozygous mice. LacZ expression recapitulates endogenous gene expression in embryos. (J:126341)
