A 804 bp genomic fragment immediately downstream of the Cd8b1 untranslated region that contains the "core" of the E8iii enhancer and an adjacent 4.4kb genomic fragment that contains the entire E8ii enhancer was replaced by a floxed neomycin resistance cassette. Heterozygous mice were bred with cre-transgenic mice to remove the neomycin cassette, leaving a single loxP site. Southern blotting confirmed deletion of the enhancer elements. (J:126027)
