A neomycin selection cassette replaced a 0.5kb genomic fragment containing coding sequence downstream of the translation initiation site codon. Northern blot analysis on RNA derived from whole brain showed that no detectable transcript is present in homozygous mice. Western blot analysis showed that no encoded protein was present in brain extracts from homozygous mice. (J:38582)
