A vector containing a phosphoglycerate kinase promoter upstream of a floxed beta-gal gene and a hemagglutinin gene were introduced into founder mice. These mice were crossed with transgenic mice expressing cre recombinase to remove the beta-gal gene in in the germ-line. This recombined transgene drives expression of the hemagglutinin gene in numerous tissues including the thymus. (J:125750)
