An IRES-cre cassette was inserted into exon 5. Expression of cre is induced in head mesoderm and mesoderm located dorsally to the cardiac cresent at E75. to E8.5, most mesoderm dorsal and lateral to the pharynx and head mesoderm at 4- and 6-somite stage, and mesoderm that virtually surrounds the pharynx at 8-somite stage in a pattern that is similar to Tbx1 expression.
