A LacZ gene and a floxed neomycin selection cassette were inserted in frame after the ATG initiation codon, deleting sequences encoding amino acids 2 through 305. Quantitative RT- PCR on spinal cord tissue failed to detect endogenous gene expression in homozygous mice. LacZ expression was detected in numerous tissues of the homozygous mice. (J:124469)
