A fragment consisting composed of the sequence ot the terminal 100 amino acids of the beta-amyloid precursor protein (APP) gene (C104, referred to as C100 in J:100978 which states that the transgene contains the terminal 100 amino acids of APP) was inserted into a plasmid encoding the neural-specific dystrophin (DMD) promoter. The vector also contained the SV40 early splice and polyadenylation sequences. Several founder lines were identified, but line 7 was the most extensively characterized line. RT-PCR of tissues from 6-month old mice revealed predominant expression in the brain (>10-fold higher than in any other tissue where low level-transcription was detected). (J:100978, J:105050)
