A region encoding 124 C-terminal amino acids was replaced by a pgk-neo cassette. This deleted region contained all of the zinc finger amino acids, and thus the targeted gene was rendered incapable of producing a DNA binding protein by alternative splicing. RT-PCR confirmed absence of transcript from mutant lungs. (J:123621)
