This transgene expresses a fusion protein of the murine Mef2c DNA-binding domain and the Drosophila Engrailed repressor in proliferating chondrocytes under the control of the murine Col2a1 promoter. This Mef2c-engrailed fusion protein inactivates all Mef2 proteins by preventing DNA binding and creating transcriptionally inactive heterodimers with wild-type Mef2 proteins. (J:119152)
