LoxP sites were inserted to flank exons 5-7 of the locus. This sequence contains several key histidine and aspartic acid residues required for catalytic activity. A neo cassette flanked by FRT sites was removed from the locus by crossing with mice expressing Flp recombinase in the germline. (J:123173)
