A targeting vector was designed to replace the 250 bp long 5' UTR and exons 1-3, except for the last 88 bp of exon 3, with a pgk-hprt cassette. Absence of transcript and protein was confirmed in mutant testis by Northern blot and Western blot analysis, respectively. (J:120937)
