A genomic DNA containing an IRES-taulacZ 3-prime tag from which introns one and two, as well as a 14kb 3' segment, have been removed was microinjected into pronuclei of C57BL/6J X CBA F2 zygotes. This construct contains 2.2 kb of spliced genomic sequence including 0.9 kb of coding sequence, and confers basic properties of olfactory receptor gene expression such as olfactory sensory neuron-specific, punctate expression and coconvergence to cognate glomeruli.
