A targeting vector was used to place an in-frame LacZ reporter gene in the first exon of the gene at the initiator methionine and insert a neomycin resistance cassette downstream of the LacZ cassette downstream of exon 8. LacZ expression was observed in the Henson's node at embryonic day 7.5 and in the endoderm of the gut at embryonic day 8.5 (J:121683)
