The transgenic construct consists of an Enhanced Cyan Fluorescent Protein (Cerulean) gene and 2.1kb of sequence from the human growth hormone (GH1) gene (to confer high expression of the ECFP) under the control of the mouse insulin 1 promoter. Founder line 24 was subsequently established. Expression of ECFP was detected specifically in beta cells of pancreatic islets. (J:99450, J:120245)
