This transgene resulted from pronuclear injection of a construct comprised of an IRES-taulacZ cassette downstream of a truncated Olfr16 sequence, with the three Olfr16 exons present but both intron 1 and intron 2 absent and 395 base pairs 5 of the translation start site deleted. The loss of these 395 base pairs stops expression. (J:78878)
