The protein product of this transgene, whose transcription is under control of the dendritic cell- (DC-) specific mouse integrin alpha X (Itgax/Cdc11c) promoter, is a fusion of Cre recombinase and a mutant hormone-binding domain from human estrogen receptor 1 (ESR1). Following TAM treatment of mice bearing both this transgene and an EGFP-expressing Cre recombinase reporter transgene, green fluorescence was observed in 4-8% of CD11c+ cells in the spleen, lymph nodes, and thymus, but in no CD11c- cells. Staining of Cdc11c+ splenocytes from these mice with CD8alpha-APC/CD-PE 40 hours after TAM administration revealed fluorescence of all major classes of DC. (J:114742)
