This transgene consists of a constitutively active rat Mmp2, with valine 107 in the prodomain mutagenized to glycine which results in the unfolding of the prodomain from the catalytic site, under the control of the cardiac specific alpha-myosin heavy chain promoter. In situ zymography confirmed that hearts exhibit increased Mmp2 activity. (J:105703)
